The caveat is non-negotiable. GSC does not directly show AI Overview citations, AI Mode citations, answer text, prompt-level brand mentions, competitor inclusion, sentiment or source history. A long-tail query is not a confirmed AI prompt. A CTR drop is not proof that an AI Overview took the click. A high-ranking page is not proof that Google used it as a supporting link.

What GSC Can And Cannot Show

There are several hard limits. Search Console does not provide a native AI Overview filter, AI Mode filter, citation report, answer text report, prompt report, source URL report, competitor mention report or brand sentiment report. Search Labs experiment data should not be assumed to appear in Search Console reporting. Do not chase every low CTR row. A query with tiny impressions, weak business value or obvious ranking loss is not automatically an AI opportunity. Prioritize rows where impressions are meaningful for your site, the intent maps to a real buyer decision and there is a page you can actually improve.

Structured data can support the action when it accurately describes visible content. It should not become the action by itself. GA4 can add one useful layer after the click. If a GSC opportunity sends traffic, check whether the landing page keeps users engaged, supports conversion paths and matches the query intent.
